About

Who we are

First published in March 1856 as The Irish Ecclesiastical Gazette, the Church of Ireland Gazette has chronicled the life of the Church for over 160 years. Becoming a weekly publication in 1880 and adopting its current name in 1900, the Gazette continues to serve as a trusted and independent voice for the Church of Ireland today. From its beginning, the Gazette has been more than a newspaper — it is a platform for connection, reflection, and faithful witness.

Today, the Gazette continues to inform and inspire. Each issue engages with real lives and local ministry, exploring the joys and challenges of Christian witness in contemporary Ireland. We publish stories from every corner of the island, amplifying voices that might otherwise go unheard, and bridging the gap between parishes, dioceses, and wider society. The Church of Ireland Gazette is not simply about reporting the Church’s story. It is about being part of it.

Stay Informed. Stay Connected.

Join readers across Ireland and beyond with monthly issues of independent news, features, and commentary from the heart of the Church of Ireland.

Editor

Clark Brydon

It’s a real privilege to serve as Editor of the Church of Ireland Gazette. My journey to this role has taken me through classrooms, cathedrals, and common rooms — from education and safeguarding to communications and church life. What connects it all is a commitment to the Church and a belief in the importance of honest, thoughtful conversation.

Originally from Great Britain, I moved to Ireland in 2020 to begin a PhD at Trinity College Dublin, and have since put down roots here. Alongside editorial work, I’ve worked at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin and now work as a Housemaster in Raphoe, County Donegal.

I see the Gazette as a space for reflection, discussion, and shared story — where voices from across the island can be heard, challenged, and celebrated. I’m proud to continue its long tradition of independent journalism in the service of the Church.
