About
Who we are

Frst published in March 1856 as The Irish Ecclesiastical Gazette, the Church of Ireland Gazette has chronicled the life of the Church for over 160 years. Becoming a weekly publication in 1880 and adopting its current name in 1900, the Gazette continues to serve as a trusted and independent voice for the Church of Ireland today. From its beginning, the Gazette has been more than a newspaper — it is a platform for connection, reflection, and faithful witness.
Today, the Gazette continues to inform and inspire. Each issue engages with real lives and local ministry, exploring the joys and challenges of Christian witness in contemporary Ireland. We publish stories from every corner of the island, amplifying voices that might otherwise go unheard, and bridging the gap between parishes, dioceses, and wider society. The Church of Ireland Gazette is not simply about reporting the Church’s story. It is about being part of it.

Clark Brydon
Clark Brydon is Editor of the Church of Ireland Gazette, the Church’s independent national newspaper. His work is shaped by a particular interest in how the Church communicates with clarity, integrity, and openness in a changing public landscape. He brings strengths in writing, editing, digital communication, and organisational leadership, alongside a commitment to careful listening and fair representation of differing perspectives.
Originally from Great Britain, he moved to Ireland in 2020 to undertake doctoral research at Trinity College Dublin, having completed a degree in Music from the University of York. His interests lie in the intersection of theology, public discourse, and the life of the contemporary Church.
As Editor, he is committed to ensuring the Gazette remains a space for informed reporting, thoughtful analysis, and generous disagreement. His vision is of a publication that is confident in its independence, attentive to the breadth of Church of Ireland life, and willing to engage seriously with the questions shaping faith and society today. Alongside his editorial work, he is exploring a call to ordained ministry within the Church of Ireland.
