Sir, —
In your recent coverage of GAFCON’s response to the appointment of The Right Reverend Sarah Mullally as Archbishop of Canterbury, one simple fact was overlooked (as it often is in other contexts): GAFCON is a movement in which many members of the Anglican Communion participate, but it is not an Anglican Communion body. According to GAFCON’s own website, it is led by a Council of Primates, but on checking the membership of this council, some of these primates are not leaders or even members of any church of the Anglican Communion. Strange that such a body should claim to be able to direct the future of the Anglican Communion!
Yours, etc.,—
The Right Reverend Kenneth Kearon
(Glendalough, retd)
