Sir, —
As a long-time reader of the Gazette, I write in support of its current format and hope that it will prosper.
A couple of recent letters have suggested a return to the traditional (black-and-white) newspaper format, but I feel that would be a retrograde step. First impressions are important, so it pleases me that the present Gazette looks well on the newsagent’s shelf and on the table at the back of the church. It is also important that the Gazette fulfils the traditional role of a Church paper of report and reflection. We need reports on the retirement of The Right Reverend Colton and on the General Synod, as well as articles on the contrast between Pope Leo and President Trump (May 2026) and Professor John Feeney’s lecture on our responsibility in relation to climate change and environmental degradation (April 2026).
Yours, etc.,
Ms Lesley Whiteside
